The Major's Boomba Polivka Spanielska
Ed. Note: I really do prefer that he
not call this
Boomba Polivka
Spanielska.
I have a cocker spaniel, okay? MissSophieDog protests!
Actually, when first I mentioned my displeasure to The Major, he
was quick to reply, "Everyone knows 'Boomba Polivka Spanielska'
means 'Feed It to the Dogs'! Fine. By all means. I do
have my own
private nomenclature, but let’s not go there…
2 - 4 Italian sausages, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
One 16-ounce can chili con carne with beans
(I prefer Armour,
Original style)
One 10 1/2-ounce can Campbell's tomato soup,
plus an equal amount of
water
1 soup can Pinot Noir or dry red wine
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/8 teaspoon basil
1/8 teaspoon oregano
1/8 teaspoon rosemary
1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/2 pound seashell pasta, cooked and drained
Additional Parmesan cheese for serving
Brown Italian sausages. Combine all ingredients except pasta in a
sauce-
pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer 15 minutes. Cook pasta al
dente
according to package directions. Add the cooked pasta to soup.
Heat a few minutes longer.
Top each serving with a generous amount of Parmesan
cheese. Great
with rye toast spread
with garlic butter. Makes about 4
servings,
depending on when you last ate.
