My Favorite Marinated Grilled
Steak
3/4 cup dry red wine
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup olive oil
1 large onion, minced
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
4 large garlic cloves, minced
1 bay leaf, crumbled
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 sirloin steaks, 4 to 5 pounds each, cut 2 inches thick
Combine all of the marinade ingredients in a large heavyweight
plastic bag. Add the steaks, seal the bag securely, and rotate the bag several times. Let
the steak marinate at room temperature 4 hours, turning the bag often to distribute the
marinade.
Prepare barbecue grill. Cook the meat to rare or medium-rare stage,
basting often with the marinade. Cut the steak diagonally into thin slices to serve. If
youre short on time, or not in the mood to fire up the grill, this is delicious done
in a grill pan. Serves 8 to 12, depending on how many serious carni-vores are among your
guests!
