“Pray without ceasing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17
"We think rightly or wrongly about prayer according to the conception
we
have in our minds of prayer. If we think of prayer as the breath in
our
lungs and the blood from our hearts, we think rightly. The blood
flows
ceaselessly, and breathing continues ceaselessly; we are not
conscious of
it, but it is always going on. We are not always con-
scious of Jesus keeping us in perfect joint with God, but if we are
obeying
Him, He always is. Prayer is not an exercise, it is the life.
Beware of
anything that stops [spontaneous] prayer. 'Pray without
ceasing,' keep the
childlike habit of [spontaneous] prayer in your
heart to God all the time.
Jesus never mentioned unanswered prayer, He had the boundless
certainty that
prayer is always answered. Have we by the Spirit the
unspeakable certainty
that Jesus had about prayer, or do we think
of the times when God does not seem to have answered prayer?
'Every one that asketh receiveth.' We say - "But…, but...." God
answers prayer in the best
way, not sometimes, but every time,
although the immediate manifestation of
the answer in the domain
in which we want it may not always follow. Do we expect God to
answer prayer?
The danger with us is that we want to water down the things
that
Jesus says and make them mean something in accordance with
common sense; if
it were only common sense, it was not worth
while for Him to say it. The things
Jesus says about prayer are
supernatural revelations."

"Bookmark Prayer" of
Saint Teresa of Avila
"Let nothing upset you,
Let nothing afright you.
Everything is changing;
God alone is changeless.
Patience attains the goal.
Who has God lacks nothing;
God alone fills all her needs."

"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it,
do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye
might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all
wisdom and spiritual understanding;"
~ Colossians 1:9 (KJV)
"My prayer for you, dear ones, is that you are always strong
in the strength of God, that you are wise with the wisdom of
God, that you are rich with the blessings of God.
Most of all I pray that you know the presence of God as your
constant companion, that you walk the path of peace, that
you live from a heart of love.
My thoughts of you are ones that envision you whole and well,
fulfilled and free. There is so much that you have to offer as
you give expression to the divine qualities within you.
I trust that your knowing you are held in my heart and in my
prayers brings you comfort. I send my love to you in thought
and prayer each day. I am standing with you in faith and
supporting you in prayer."
~ Unknown

Serenity Prayer
"God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference;
living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time,
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
Amen."
~ Reinhold Niebuhr

"Turn, O Lord, my fears around.
Let them become a positive force
For good in my life until I -
Fear not that I might fail
But fear rather that I might never dare
to discover my potential.
Fear not that I might be hurt,
But fear rather that I might never
experience growing pains.
Fear not that I might live and lose,
But fear rather that I might never love at all.
Fear not that people may laugh at my mistakes,
But fear rather that God will say to me
'O ye of little faith.'
Fear not that I might fail if I try again,
But fear rather that I might miss my greatest
chance for happiness if I failed
to give hope another opportunity.
Amen."

"Lord Jesus, cleanse me and cover me with Your blood.
I gird my loins with your truth. I cover my heart with
the breastplate of your righteousness. I cover my feet,
my walk in Your Spirit, with Your peace. I put on the
helmet of Your salvation through Your shed blood. I
take up the shield of faith, Your Word, with which I
will defeat satan through Your Word and blood.
In the name of the Mighty Warrior, Jesus. Amen."

Terry's Prayer
"Fear not the calling of thy heart -
For the Lord thy God has gone
before you and is there already.
His Will shall be made known
and His Name exalted.
Praise the Name of the Lord God."

Jesus is Lord
(Germaine Copeland,
author of 'Prayers that Avail Much)
Jesus, you are my LORD. You are my light
and my salvation, I shall not be
afraid. You are my sufficiency, my Redeemer, Provider, Sanctifier, Protector,
Healer and Victory! You are El Shaddai. You are more than enough for every
challenge I face, for every decision I must make, for the questions I need
answered, for the adjustments I need to make. You are everything to me,
my Lord and Savior. I trust you – lean and rely on you. LORD, you are
good; my refuge and counsel are in you. Amen.
Psalm 27:1; Psalm 34:8

Prayer for Deliverance
Dear God,
Deliver us to our passion.
Deliver us to our brilliance.
Deliver us to our intelligence.
Deliver us to our depth.
Deliver us to our nobility.
Deliver us to our beauty.
Deliver us to our power to heal.
Deliver us to You.

Jesus' Prayer for His Disciples
(1) These words spake Jesus, and lifted up
his eyes to heaven, and said,
Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son,
that thy Son also may glorify thee:
(2) as thou hast given him power over all flesh,
that he should
give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
(3) And this is life eternal, that they might know
thee the only
true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
(4) I have glorified thee on the earth: I have
finished the
work which thou gavest me to do.
(5) And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine
own self with
the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
(6) I have manifested thy name unto the men which
thou gavest
me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them
me; and they have kept thy word.
(7) Now they have known that all things whatsoever
thou
hast given me are of thee.
(8) For I have given unto them the words which thou
gavest me;
and they have received them, and have known surely that I came
out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
(9) I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but
for them which
thou hast given me; for they are thine.
(10) And all mine are thine, and thine are mine;
and I am
glorified in them.
(11) And now I am no more in the world, but these
are in the world,
and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name
those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
(12) While I was with them in the world, I kept
them in thy name:
those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost,
but the son of perdition; that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
(13) And now come I to thee; and these things I
speak in the
world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
(14) I have given them thy word; and the world hath
hated them,
because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
(15) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out
of the world,
but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
(16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of
the world.
(17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth.
(18) As thou hast sent me into the world, even so
have I also
sent them into the world.
(19) And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that
they also might
be sanctified through the truth.
(20) Neither pray I for these alone, but for them
also which
shall believe on me through their word;
(21) that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art
in me, and I
in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may
believe that thou hast sent me.
(22) And the glory which thou gavest me I have
given them;
that they may be one, even as we are one:
(23) I in them, and thou in me, that they may be
made perfect
in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent
me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
(24) Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast
given me,
be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory,
which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before
the foundation of the world.
(25) O righteous Father, the world hath not known
thee: but I have
known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
(26) And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it;
that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them,
and I in them."
~ John 17 (KJV)

Voice of the
Covenant
If you are at the point in your life where you are ready to make a personal
commitment to follow Christ, all you have to do is reach out to Him now in
prayer. He is listening and waiting to come into your heart and help you live
a better life. Will you invite Him in now? If you'd like to pray and receive
Christ as your Savior, you can use this simple prayer as a guide:
"Lord Jesus, I ask You to come into my life and forgive me of all my sins.
I confess my sins before You this day. I denounce Satan and all his works.
I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life. Thank You for saving me. I believe
with my heart and I confess with my mouth that You rose from the dead.
I am saved. Write my name in the Lamb's book of life. Today is my God-day
with the Lord Jesus! I pray this prayer to the Father in the name of Jesus.
Amen."

Insight from Times of Prayer!
"And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his
disciples
were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the
people that I am?
They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias;
and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again."
--
Luke
9:18-19
(KJV)
Key Thought:
"The Gospel of Luke reminds us that so many of the great moments
of Jesus' life and ministry are tied to prayer. Sometime soon, get a
specially colored highlighter and read the Gospel of Luke and underline
every time prayer occurs or is the subject of Jesus' teaching. Then go
back and make an outline of key events tied to those prayer sessions.
You will be amazed at how important prayer is to the unfolding
salvation of Jesus' ministry. Peter's confession of Jesus as the Christ
follows this prayer time and the discussion that follows it. This is
just another one of the Holy Spirit's reminders that fresh insights
for life, faith, and our faithfulness often occur during our times of
prayer. This was true for Jesus and his disciples and it will no doubt
be true of us."
Today's Prayer:
"Father in heaven, God Almighty, thank You for providing me the
great avenue and opportunity of prayer. To know that You listen
to my words, my thoughts, and my heart is simply overwhelming.
Help me hunger more for these special times in Your presence.
Give me wisdom and understanding as I pray and seek Your will.
Do Your will in my life as I seek your presence.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."

"The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to
an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your
child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your
mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to
yourself, respect; to all men, charity."
